(U.P.) Premier Pierre Laval of France revealed tonight to the United Press his vision of a new Europe in which the governments even of Germany and France- -will withdraw from nationalist politics, recognize the interdependence of all nations and work harmoniously for the common good. The youthful premier has no intention of becoming, single-handed, the champion of European economic reform. Nor would he reveal whatever program has been formed in his active brain during and since his series of consultations with President Hoover. On the other hand. he did speak earnestly upon the "political disarmament" of Europe which, he bemust be the forerunner of international understanding which, eventually, may lead to physical disarmament.

"I shall make no announcement," he said, "and I shall take no active steps until I have consulted the parliament. 27-(Special). Baker, will Oct. be to penitentiary in Alias. Deer Lodge tomorrow morning to serve two years at hard labor for forgery. Harris was arraigned several weeks ago on this charge and pleaded not guilty but changed his plea to guilty before Judge George B.

Winston in the district court today. Harris has been held in the county jail since his arrest several months ago. He was charged with signing the name of John Connors to a check, which he cashed here. Last he was indicted by a federal grand jury in Pocatello, Idaho, under the national motor vehicle act. He was not turned over to the federal officers, however, pending action on charges against him here.

ANACONDA, Oct. 27-(Special) The San Francisco newspapers record death in Oakland of Mrs. Ellis Thornton, widow of the late William M. Thornton, for many years one of Anaconda's most prominent citizens. and his wife came to Anaconda in 1884, and were therefore among the city's very earliest pioneers.

Mr. Thornton was cashier of the Hogge, Daly Company bank, the predecessor of the Daly Bank and Trust company. He was elected the first state senator of Deer Lodge county and later served the city as its mayor. He left the Anaconda bank to assume the position of cashier in the Great Falls National bank. Having amassed a comfortable fortune, he retired eight or ten years ago and made his home in California.

He died in Oakland about two years ago. Mr. and Mrs. Thornton lived in the house that stood at the corner of Main and Sixth streets, the present site of the Brentwood apartments. There they, leaders of Anaconda society, entertained their friends with the most gracious hospitality.

Each came of an old, aristocratic California family. Mrs. Thornton was the daughter of Mayor Samuel J. Hensley, pioneer California merchant and shipping man. He established the Coastwise Pacific Steamship company, the first of its kind.

In 1884 Marcus Daly, desiring to equip the city he had founded with a bank, wrote to the Wells, Fargo Co. bank of San Francisco, requesting them to send him a capable cashier. They sent him Mr. Thornton, one of their own tried and trusted employes. Mr.

Thornton not only made good as a banker but he became a leader in civic affairs and never ceased to take an ardent interest in all efforts community. to promote The the welfare of of both the memory Mr. and Mrs. Thornton is affectionately cherished by all the city's old-timers. MAN HELD IN ACCIDENT CASE FREED ON BONDS ANACONDA, Oct.

27-(Special) Roy Houberg, held in the county jail past month charged with involuntary manslaughter, was released under bond today after posting $1,500 bail. Houberg and Paul Conwell were arrested following 8 verdict by jurors at the coroner's inquest concerning the death of James Drinville, druggist of Deer Lodge. Drinville died from injuries received when the car in which he was riding crashed into a load of wood being hauled into the city on the west highway. Conwell testified he was driving the car which was towing the trailer loaded with wood and Houberg stated he was riding on the wood. Conwell was released shortly after arraignment in the district court, at which both men pleaded not guilty.

His bonds also were $1,500. MAN TAKEN IN CHARGE BY OFFICER FROM EAST ANACONDA, Oct. 27-(Special) Theodore Williams, alias Ed Taylor, was turned over to Deputy Sheriff Konard Beck of Hutchinson, today by Sheriff C. W. Smith.

He left at 1:30 o'clock in custody of the officer to be returned to Kansas. where he is alleged to have escaped from a road gang, while serving a sentence for robbing boxcars. Taylor was arrested here by Policeman H. D. Christensen.

Fingerprint Expert Andrew Horvath took his prints and sent them to various fingerprint bureaus throughout the country, leading to the discovery that he was wanted in Kansas. DILLON BUREAU MUSIC PROGRAM HEARD BY CLUB Normal College Teacher and Students Entertain Dillon Rotarians. DILLON, Oct. 27. HEGGERTY IS HELD DILLON, Oct. (Special)-The funeral of the late Mrs. Gertrude Bridget Heggerty, a resident of Dillon for several years, who died Sunday at her home here, was held this morning at the St. Rose church. The Rev.

Father F. X. Lechner officiated and interment was made in the Mountain View cemetery. Mrs. Heggerty was 65 years of ago and a native of Ireland.

Special at STORE TROUT FRY PLACED IN BEAVERHEAD STREAMS DILLON, Oct. (Special) Trout fry are being planted in several Beaverhead county streams this week. A shipment of 20 cans of fry was received from the state hatchery at Anaconda yesterday and planted by forestry officials in Bloody Dick creek. Shipments of the same size will be planted in Willow creek, and in Trapper and Canyon creeks. Aerodromes in the British dominions now total 87.

(Special) -The board of review of Dillon Boy Scout troops met at the courthouse tonight to examine applicants for advancement or merit badges. Mr. Campbell, through an arrangement with the local executive committee, will spend two days of each inonth with the local troops, DRUNKS ARE GIVEN COMFORTABLE CELL IN MICHIGAN JAIL GLADSTONE, Oct. 27- (U.P) Placed in jail Sunday night sober up, eight men were drunker than ever when arraigned in justice court yesterday. Suspicious police investigated and found that the prisoners had been placed in a cell containing five cases of beer held as evidence against a bootlegger.
