Sixf 4he pupils of the Willow Glen district passed with high honors and one pupil of the Fish Trap school also scored high markings. Those who passed the eighth grade examinations at the Willow Glen school are Retta Miller, Mattie Rasmussen, Alice Jessen, Annie Miller, Neota Para and Rachel James. Miss Annie Calvert of Fish Trap will also receive her eighth grade sheepskin.

Miss McHugh there will be quite a number of the eighth grade pupils in other districts who will take the examination which will take place in August. The senior class of the Anaconda high school is making great preparation for the graduation exercises which will take place next Thursday evening at the Margaret theater. The final examinations have begun and will continue until one day next week. School will close on Friday next with a cantata given by the pupils of the grammar grades. The son of Mr. Woodruff, one of the principal ranchmen In the Big Hole basin, returned yesterday to his home after a brief visit irt Anaconda. Mr. Woodruff said that the- Big Hole farm-! ers and stockmen are much Interested in the proposed telephone connection with Anacojfla and he believes that nearly all of those beyond Ralston will contribute liberally toward the extension of the line to Wisdom and Bowen. He promised to take up the matter with these people at once and to secure their co-operation with Anaconda business men in the extension of the line.

It has been definitely decided to close the fair Saturday night, when the contest for the Shetland ponies donated by Thomas Gavin will be decided.

There will also be contests for two milch cows, a steel range, rug, sideboard and many other valuable articles. At the fancy work booth there are many very beautiful articles that will be disposed of before the close of the fair. At this 'booth there is a new Savage rifle that many gentlemen are anxious to secure and it will probably be carried away to-night. ORE FOUND IN ROYAL MINE Leasers And body of shipping: ore and the mill is to be started up. A.

Pike, who with others has 'a lease on the Royal mine west of Anaconda, came in from that property yesterday and is arranging to move to the mine with his wife, to remain permanently. Mr. Pike has four men at work and as soon as the roads are in shape for ore shipments, this force will be Increased. This week a fine body of ore was struck, which contains a considerable amount of shipping1 This will be sent to the smelters for treatment and the low-grade ore will be run through the Royal mill. Mr.

Pike is much encouraged by the outlook. Shipping, however, is difficult at present. Since May 1 more than 50 inches of snow have fallen at the mine and the snow is now fully four feet on the leved up there. It will be some time before the roads are in condition for freighting. Mr. and Mrs. Patrick Lappin and two children will leave to-day for their old home in Pennsylvania for the benefit of Mrs. Lappin's health. Mr.

If this is decided upon an attorney will be employed and the sheriff of Lewis and Clark county will be asked to bring the action. It is also probable that a representative will be sent to the next annual meeting of the National Sheriffs' association.
