CREEK, July 1J---(Speclal)-A picnic dinner toyed by members of the W. a. thX daughter and son Mrs. nSer visited places of in- dyt West Yellowstone. Mr.

Viola Heily motored to Kalispell's Golden Jubilee celebration staged the week of July 4, was of unusual significance to the Dyer family, for not only are Mr. and Mrs. Joe, Dyer, 725 Sixth avenue east, celebrating their 50 years' residence here, but they are also observing their 57th wedding anniversary. Mary Elliot and Joe Dyer were married in Indiana territory and came to Montana in 1891. They made the trip to Ravalli by train and from there to Poison by stage coach, crossed Flathead lake on the old steamer, Klondyke, and landed one and a half miles south of Cres- ton.

They first filed on a home stead near Creston, where they lived for several years before making a trip to their former home, which had then become the state of Oklahoma. The lure of the Flathead brought them back ta Creston, where they sion, wnere ineyi. Miller, a resident of Montana for 57 years, celebrated his 78th birthday anniversary July 1. Mr. Miller, a native of Minnesota, went to Helena when he was a young man, and he lived there most of the time until 28 years ago when he moved to Whiteflsh. He lived for a time at Lincoln, Mont. He was the first superintendent of the Masonic state homenear Helena, and later served as post master at Lincoln.

His many friends here con gratu lated him on hla birthday. Logan People Visit Other Towns, Entertain Visitors LOO AN, July 13. (Special) Mr. and Mrs. Mike Crowley, Will Crow- lye, Leo Crowley and families attended a family gathering at Card- well at the home of Mr.

and Mrs. Marcus Crowley, Friday, July 4. There were 47 present, all members of the family, Including Mrs. Sweeney, Mrs. Wilson and son, Charles, of Bozeman, and Jimmy Crowley and Bill Fraser of Butte.

Fritze. Mr. and Mrs. Virgil Davis are the parents of a baby boy born last week in the Whitehall hospital. Mrs.

and Mrs. B. F. Chamberlain of Boulder, fcaa recently received a scholarship Jor Ohio State College. The scholarship was received from the North Dakota School of Forestry where Chamberlain received his degree last month.

Sheridan News Events Feature Trips SHERIDAN, July It. (Special) Donald Duncan, one of Sheridan's selective service men stationed at Fort Lewis, Is enjoying a 10-day leave, with his parents and hl wife in Sheridan. Child Violinist in Flathead SOMERS, July 12. (Specian-i Billy Steck. seven-year-old violinist, formerly of Kalispell and who has been studying violin at the Cornish Conservatory of Music In Seattle the past year and a half, arrived in the Flathead with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Vera Steck, a few days ago.

They are spending several days at the Alice M. Walker and B. H. Walker homes. Wnile here Billy gave a concert in Kalispell Friday evening and will also appear in Whitefish, Missoula.

Both attended family, Bozeman. HAMILTON, July 12. (Special) The body of Clyde Arthur Towne. victim of a haying accident, will be sent from Missoula to his, old home at Maywood, Wednesday. There will be no funeral rites here.

Mr. Towne was fatally hurt In a derrick accident in a hay barn at the E. E. Hackett ranch, west of Victor Monday afternoon. No one witnessed the accident, but a 12- year-old son, Clyde, who was driving the derrick horse outside In the barnyard, heard his father cry out, and he summoned help.

The 10-foot fall resulted In a skull fracture. Mr. Towne died without regaining consciousness, as he was being rushed in an ambulance to the Daly hospital here, Mrs. Towne, her sons, Clyde and Lyle', and daughters, Clara and Audrey, will accompany the casket to Maywood. Mr.

Towne had served a year In the Army in the United States during the World war. His mother, brother, and sisters reside at Maywood, and there are also relatives of Mrs. Towne In the Nebraska community. Quota Established; 27 New Men Signed on July 1 BOULDER, July 12. (Special) William Tell Parlni of Elk Park, one of 10 brothers registered imder the selective service act, will be first of 28 Jefferson county men sched uled to be conscripted in the next few weeks, according to draft board officials here.

Ha has beepnotified to leave Monday for Fort Missoula. Also 1 1 1 dto report was Herman M. Ronning, who registered at Boulder and now resides at Seattle. The b6ss quota for this county as ofJune 28 was 101 men. Three have been conscripted and 72 men have enlisted in military service.

Since June 28; five men have been sent by the local draft board to the Army. No time limit for supplying the remaining 28 men in the quota has been set. the latter part Funeral Conducted SALMON, July 12. (Special) Funeral sen-ices were conducted Monday afternoon at the Doebler chapel for Mrs. Myrtle Elizabeth Longley, 40, who died July 2 at the Rose hospital in childbirth. Mrs. Longley was born at Salmon March 23.

1941, and lived here all her life. She Is survived by her husband, Tom Longley, and the following sons and daughters, Mrs. Francis Jakovac of Salmon, Mrs. Clara Bailey, Chester and Ken-, neth Longley, all of Grass Valley, Calif, Floyd and Infant John, her mother. Mrs.

Eliza Mogg, and one sister, Mrs. Bertha Carlson, all of USalmon. Building Pool SALMON, Idaho, July 12. (Special) Construction of swimming pool Is under way at Salmon, following the decision of the city coun cil Monday night. The pool will be in the narrow channel of the Salmon rive, as it divides around Island park.

The channel Is being dammned, and the pool above will be roped off Into three parts a deep pool for diving, a shallow pool, and a wading pool for very small children. A playground supervisor who can swim wiU be certified by WPA to have charge of the water playground. Mr. and Mrs. Oppegaard lived at Savage for 19 years before coming to the Bitter Root valley in 1931. Their sons, Arnold and Henry, with the latter's wife nd children, were present to complete the family circle for the golden anniversary.
